chambre 2046

2046

dark room of resilience

Directed by Amélie Gratias , the Chambre 2046 Company takes its name from a detail: the room number in the film In the Mood for Love . Behind this door, two people seek to understand the tipping point of their lives, strive to seize and re-appropriate the event. They constantly replay the scene, try to grasp the incomprehensible, they write, they exchange, they bond with each other. Through Wong Kar Wai's camera and its slow motion, a world made of suspended time and gestures carrying a story takes shape, acts of creation are born from Beauty and Love.

The company draws inspiration from this space of the imagination. Driven by the creations of Amélie Gratias, it offers performative and visual theater that questions the traces left by events on bodies and language and the ability to stand, to not give in to collapse. Like the black box that allows light to be captured in the heart of darkness, the Chambre 2046 Company creates spaces

where life and death, brutality and gentleness, scream and silence coexist

and extract a moment of grace from the violence.

Amélie Gratias

Born in 1993, Amélie Gratias grew up in the south of Essonne, where the forest and sandstone blocks were her primary playground and source of imagination. She initially juggled second-division soccer with film studies in Paris, then decided to devote herself fully to the performing arts. Initially trained at the EDT91, she joined the École du Théâtre National de Bretagne in 2018, directed by Arthur Nauzyciel, whose work would have a profound impact on her. The rich and intense training she underwent at the heart of theater planted the roots of an art form she desired to be multifaceted and demanding. In 2021, she created and performed "Therefore I Am," a visual and physical performance that she presented at the Théâtre National de Bretagne and then at the Printemps des Comédiens. On stage, moving from theatrical text to the performative body, she likes to define herself as an artist at the crossroads of disciplines. In 2022, she entered the world of live cinema, starring alongside Anne Loiret in Les Guetteuses, written and directed by Jérémie Brugidou and Fabien Clouette. In 2023, she responded to an invitation from the Tandem - Scène Nationale d'Arras-Douai to write and direct Chambre 2046 with students from the Lomme Regional Center for Circus Arts. In June 2024, she wrote and directed Au Seuil at the Scène Nationale de l'Essonne for the release of Groupe 17's EDT 91. Both on stage as an actress with Phia Ménard (Fiction/Friction, 2022) and Pascal Rambert (Dreamers, 2022/2023), and off stage as a collaborator with Guillaume Vincent (La Tour de Constance, 2024), Raphaëlle Rousseau (Discussion with DS, 2022/2025), and Ambre Kahan (L'Art de la Joie, 2023/2024), her collaborations have had a lasting impact on her artistic research. To fulfill her creative ambitions and anchor art in the social sphere, Amélie Gratias founded the Chambre 2046 company in 2024. Eager to broaden her scope and explore other influences, she joined the Millenial Academy's artist residency program in Caen for the 2024/25 season.
